News:

Look for a new compilation, Jazz In The Night, to mark the upcoming year 2000 concert in Cape Town, South Africa. The concert, on New Years' Eve of this year, will be beamed world wide. Further details as they become available. Also, a new album, Shakatak And Friends, in spring of 2000!

Roger Odell is working on a solo album with his wife and son (you may have seen his work under the name Jimpster). Look for more news here soon!

Jill Saward's first solo album, entitled Just For You, is expected to be released on 6 December. Described as a 'mellow optimistic smooth jazz album' (sounds like my kind of album!), it will feature Jason Rebello. Some gigs around the release date are being discussed. Available from the Information Centre for £14.50 inc. p/p.

Bill Sharpe has just released his new solo album, Espirito. Highly reccomended for all Shakatak fans.

Now available on the Instinct label- More, More, More- Smooth Jazz plays The Disco Hits! Check out Shakatak's great rendition of Boogie Wonderland!

Skratch Music tells me that Shakatak's new albums, as well as all solo albums, are now available by mail order from the Shakatak Information Centre (address at bottom of this page). Please make all cheques payable to FSP Music Management. Also, credit cards are now accepted-- the telephone number (if you're dialing from the US) is 011.44.171.381.8315.

My personal favourite compilation is the German-pressed The Coolest Cuts. The Very Best Of is also a good compilation.

Perhaps more readily available outside the UK are Down On The Street and The Collection, on Karrusel, apparently out of Germany.

Unfortunately out of print are Greatest Grooves, as well as Night Moves on Pickwick, out of England.

Verve released two very enjoyable compilations in the US, entitled, respectively, Perfect Smile and Open Your Eyes.

In 1988 Polydor released The Remix Best Collection, a greatest hits CD with all of the tracks remixed to contemporary dance rhythms.

Finally, Skratch Music has released six compilations from the Japanese-only releases of 1986-1991, entitled Jazz Connections Volumes 1-6.

Many thanks go out to Austin for much help in organising and completing this discography!

For more information, please try Drumatak, hosted by none other than Mr Roger Odell! Extremely well done, and highly reccomended!

Also, please visit Shakatak's own site for more information plus streaming audio sound files.

Now up and running, Jill's site!

And coming soon- Bill's own site!
